Very solid for teams selling into Europe that need reliable mobile numbers and strict GDPR compliance, but pricing starts at several thousand euros a year, requires a sales demo, and privacy complaints under review by the ICO are worth watching.

Cognism is a name that comes up again and again when a European sales team compares sales intelligence providers against ZoomInfo or Apollo. This review combines Cognism’s publicly available documentation (pricing isn’t published) with verified user reviews on G2 and Trustpilot, and with the log of privacy complaints tracked by the UK’s ICO.

What Cognism is and who it’s for

Cognism is a B2B sales intelligence and contact data platform headquartered in London, specializing in the European market. Its core pitch is Diamond Data®: mobile numbers verified by a human team, designed to solve the most common problem in phone prospecting — dialing a number that doesn’t answer or that belongs to a general switchboard. It competes with Lusha, UpLead, Seamless.AI and ZoomInfo, but positions itself more clearly toward mid-sized and large sales teams operating in the UK, France, Germany and the rest of the EU, where GDPR compliance is a real requirement and not just a marketing checkbox.

What it’s like to use day to day

The workflow relies on the web app, a Chrome extension for prospecting from LinkedIn and Sales Navigator, and native connectors with Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach or Salesloft so captured data flows straight into the CRM without manual steps. Contact data is complemented by Bombora buying-intent signals and technographic data (what software the target company uses), which lets you prioritize accounts that are already actively researching a solution like the one you’re selling, rather than calling blindly down a list.

Data quality and accuracy: the value and the limit of Diamond Data

Diamond Data is, according to the reviews we analyzed, the reason many teams pay Cognism’s price premium: users report connect rates 2-3 times higher than databases without manual verification, especially on calls to contacts in the UK and continental Europe. The important nuance is that this manual verification doesn’t cover the entire database equally: it’s more common for senior executive profiles and British contacts, and scarcer for junior roles or certain sectors and regions. Some reviews also note that after sending a contact for manual verification, you don’t always get a clear update on the result.

Privacy and compliance: the point worth watching

Cognism bases much of its value proposition on GDPR compliance, and this is generally well regarded by European customers. At the same time, according to the disclosure log of the UK’s own Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), there are seven substantial data protection complaints against Cognism Ltd that, at the time of our review, remained unresolved, in addition to others already closed with outcomes ranging from “no further action” to “informal action” after detecting potential breaches. This is reflected in a notably lower Trustpilot rating (3.0/5) than G2’s (4.6/5). The case isn’t isolated within the group: Kaspr, owned by Cognism since 2022, was fined €240,000 by France’s CNIL in December 2024 for collecting contact data from LinkedIn profiles even when the user had specifically hidden them, a case the CNIL itself closed in March 2026 after confirming Kaspr had corrected its practices. This isn’t a pattern unique to Cognism — it’s a structural risk of the B2B contact-data industry, where a “public” data source doesn’t always mean its collection was legal — but it’s worth keeping in mind, especially if your own operation needs to be able to justify the origin of the data it uses to a data protection authority.

Real user reviews (G2, Capterra and regional nuances)

Cognism holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 on G2 across more than 2,400 reviews and 4.7 out of 5 on Capterra (263 reviews, with 97% positive sentiment), with consistent praise for the interface, the accuracy of verified mobiles, EMEA coverage and GDPR compliance. Several reviews describe Cognism as decisive to their day-to-day work as an SDR, with faster, better-targeted prospecting. The most-cited technical criticisms on Capterra point to some information not syncing correctly with Salesforce and the LinkedIn extension sometimes being slow to load data; some reviews also note the contract renewal process can be confusing. The most-cited complaint on G2 isn’t data quality but price: since it’s a 100% quote-based model, it’s impossible to estimate real cost without going through a demo and sales negotiation, which frustrates teams that just want to quickly compare prices against Lusha or UpLead. On data quality itself, the regional pattern is consistent across reviews: top-tier coverage in the UK and Western Europe, with gaps noted for mid-market companies in the US and more limited accuracy in Asia-Pacific.

Pricing and plans

Cognism doesn’t publish prices. The known structure distinguishes two plans: Grow, focused on prospecting and basic contact data, from roughly $15,000/year; and Elevate, which adds verified mobiles via Diamond Data, Bombora intent data, technographics and on-demand manual verification, from roughly $25,000/year. On top of that there’s an additional per-user cost of $1,500-2,500/user/year. There’s no free plan or free trial, and all contracts are annual with upfront payment, with no month-to-month option.

These figures come from third-party analysis of Cognism’s pricing model, not from an official rate card: before deciding, it’s essential to request an up-to-date quote and read the annual contract terms carefully.

What is Diamond Data? It’s Cognism’s brand name for mobile numbers manually verified by a human team, aimed at improving connect rates on prospecting calls, especially in Europe.

Is Cognism reliable on privacy? It complies with GDPR and uses that as a central sales argument, but the UK’s ICO is investigating several substantial complaints about the origin of certain personal data, and its Trustpilot rating (3.0/5) is notably lower than its G2 rating (4.6/5). It’s worth reviewing this before signing up.
